1972 Baur 2002 Cabriolet
1972 BMW Baur 2002 Cabriolet #2795660

Julie & Don Bower (since 2017)
Even with a roll bar adding structure as well as safety, Baur’s Targa style Cabriolet remained a strictly European prospect when the 2002 was in production.
When looking for something interesting to replace a Z4 M Roadster, owner Don Bower found this 2002 Cabriolet. It is just one of perhaps 12 Baur 2002s painted in the color Schwartz.
Built in September 1972, the car quickly found its way to Milan, Italy. It has the clear-amber front turn signal lenses that identify it as an Italian-market car. By 2017 it had made its way to Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, where Bower found and purchased the car. It had accumulated just 85,000 miles.
“We are enjoying driving it while we address lots of little things,” Bower says. “We feel like we’ve come full circle back into a ’72 2002, just like our first BMW,” Don says. “I had almost forgotten how toss-able and nimble they are.”
This is likely the best Baur 2002 Cabriolet you will ever see. It was
awarded the “Order of Merit” by Boris Said at the 2017 Hilton Head Island Concours, and was selected as one of “The Magnificent Seven” at the 2017 Atlanta Concours.
