Greer, S.C. (4/15/2024) – Titled MINIs To The Max: 65 Years of Spirited Adventures, the newest exhibit from The Ultimate Driving Museum will celebrate MINI’s heritage, the vehicle range including motorsport, unique special editions, their passionate owners, and provide a look into the future of the MINI brand. The nine-month long exhibition will open May 1, 2024 and welcomes all to include the Museum in their travels.
In 2024, MINI will be celebrating 65 years of fun and innovation as well as the unveiling of the next all-new generation of the model range. The original Mini first launched in 1959 is considered an icon of 1960s British popular culture. Its innovative space-saving transverse engine and front-wheel drive layout allowed 80% of the vehicle’s overall footprint to be used for passengers and luggage. In the process Mini inspired an entire generation of car makers to follow suit.
The Mini’s light weight design and creative use of space with its wheels at the far corners made it the definitive “fun-to-drive” car with unexpected performance potential. As a result, Mini established itself with a rich heritage of performance in race and rally series, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965, and 1967. Today MINI continues its racing heritage in the TC America Touring Car Series. After acquiring MINI as part of the Rover Group in 1994, the BMW Group launched the new MINI in 2001, drawing inspiration from the original two-door design and bringing significant performance improvements to the brand.
“The cars submitted and selected for display in the MINIs To The Max exhibit are nothing short of impressive. The passion and enthusiasm that is exhibited by MINI owners is contagious and we hope to portray the fun and excitement of MINI and its owners through this exhibit.” says Bruce Hazard, Head of the Exhibit Committee, and Archival Trustee for The BMW CCA Foundation.
