The BMW CCA Foundation was honored by the welcome of the newest exhibit produced by The Ultimate Driving Museum. BMW Motorcycles: A Century of Innovation is wonderfully interesting even if you are not a motorcycle person.
The exhibit opened with an evening gala on Thursday, May 18th. The exhibit vehicle owners, sponsors, and many supporters were among the first to see the exhibit. We were joined by about 75+ people who were happy to sit and listen to the discussion led by Jackie Jouret.
The Board of Trustees welcomed the guests with warmth. The gratitude for our sponsors was extolled by Erik Wensberg, who recognized Continental Tires as the presenting sponsor, BMW Motorrad, BMW MOA, BMW U.S. Riders Academy, BMW Performance Center, Coco Mats, Hagerty, and Bob’s BMW.
Jackie skillfully navigated the 100 years of BMW Motorrad history by engaging Fred Jakobs, Manfred Grunert, and Peter Nettesheim with questions about how important motorcycles were to BMW. The guest speakers were able to interact with each other’s sentiments and the evening really conveyed how BMW Motorcycles came about and how they are a staple of BMW’s product line and the importance of the motorcycles to BMW. It was wonderfully told so people who knew very little about motorcycles left the evening with an appreciation of BMW’s two-wheeled products.
If you missed it, don’t forget to save the date for November 3rd & 4th, we will be partnering with the BMW Performance Center again this year to bring you a weekend of BMW Motorrad. We also have other programs in the works, stay tuned for more details!
Friday, May 19th
The fun followed the next day on Friday where we welcomed The Vintage to view the exhibit before it was open to the public on Saturday, May 20th, 2023. We always love the view of vintage BMW’s rolling into the parking area. The view inside the exhibit coupled with the view from the parking lot makes for a great day! Even though it was a bit overcast, we felt like there was sunshine on our faces. From 2002s to M5 Wagons, you are bound to see something you like, or even love! The support from The Vintage has always been important to us and hopefully they feel the same way about us!
The crowd was able to sit on our new M Plaza and relax while they ate lunch from the food trucks on site. The Swine House BBQ truck was joined by Cousin’s Maine Lobster truck, and boy were there some happy bellies! It was great to see everyone able to take a break and rest before they left for the next leg of their trip to Hot Springs, NC to enjoy The Vintage. Many of the BMW CCA Foundation Trustees joined our staff at The Vintage to host a booth and enjoy the cars that made it up there.
We were joined by a few journalists, among them was Mike Bevels, and we were honored to be featured in Bimmerlife! You can read more about the opening and see pictures in his article through the link here.
If you missed the opening, don’t worry! We have a lot planned for you this year and will have much to share with you. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for November 3rd & 4th, you won’t want to miss this one!
If you can’t make it out to the exhibit before January 20, 2024, you can always grab Jackie Jouret’s BMW Motorcycles: A Century of Innovation book in our online gift shop.
